Student Manual: Elements of Research Papers

All research based projects are roughly the same—with slight differences, of course, when it comes down to writing. The basic structure, format, plot, design or presentation style remains almost the same. Writing research papers may seem to be stress-free at first but it requires a serious thought process. It sometimes may surprise even  professionals in the field due to ever changing research dimensions and magnitudes.

You need to apply more than just knowledge to claim the throne of supreme excellence. This means that you have to develop the right temperament and attitude to achieve the intended results. Giving a bright start to your research papers would indicate your grip over the proposed field of study. An ideal way is to develop an outline and establish a focus of mind before kicking off with the research. The plan needs to be developed which later combines with practical strategies and approaches to conclude the research.

Choosing the topic wisely can get you in the safe zone because this is the point where the game is either won or lost. Let’s suppose if you have chosen a very complex topic in a proposed field of study on which you know there would be less information over the internet or on different sources, then it may annoy you. But if you selected a certain topic which you know you would find adequate information over multiple sources would make things easier for you. However, if your supervisor is well qualified and experienced, he/she would make your life stress free.

One needs to extract data and information through credible sources because it would likely produce better results than expected. Similarly, those books, scholarly journals, articles, newspaper, magazines should be viewed, which are reliable and trustworthy. As you gather your resources for research papers, jot down full bibliographical information on your worksheet for later retrieval. It is wise to use citation and references for making your research look credible and not plagiarized.

Once you are done stating your thesis statement, make a tentative outline with examples to be included in your research papers. The primary purpose of an outline or plan is to aid you through your topic and better organize your writing.  Actually, writing doesn’t take much of a time if you have organized all your notes properly.

Lastly, proofreading would improve the overall feel of your research papers. Besides manually proofreading your entire document, you can use Grammarly add-on feature in Microsoft Word or other similar tools to proofread your complete document. Also, you can hand over your final copy to someone in your close group or study peers for enhancing the overall feel or aesthetics of your research document.
